Chin Augmentation frequently goes with nasal surgery (rhinoplasty)in San Diego.It has long been known that a weak chin will appear to make the nasal profile larger, whereas a stronger chin will decrease the appearance of a large nose.
Cosmetic surgeons have for years always considered recommending chin implants with rhinoplasty procedures when indicated. Computer imaging can help show our patients what chin augmentation can do to help balance the face. A new study based on computer imaging appears to indicate over fifty percent of men and over seventy five percent of women can benefit from chin augmentation in helping to improve their facial aesthetics and what we refer to as facial balance between the one –third of the nose and the lower one-third of the nose. The chin augmentation is a relatively uncomplicated procedure usually using a silastic implant placed through a tiny incision underneath the chin or through a larger incision inside the mouth. When done in a combined procedure the cost of the chin implant is dramatically reduced which makes the combined procedure a win-win situation for the patient.
